• Step 1 - Complete a personal background screening.  Milford Junior Major League, Inc. (JML) is committed to creating a safe and positive environment for its participant’s physical, emotional, and social development and to ensure that it promotes an environment free from abuse and misconduct.  You can find more information on the background screening process below.
   
• Step 2 - JML members help support the league through their time, effort and an annual contribution of $25.  This contribution helps support various activities and services that JML provides to players and the community.  You can find more information on the JML membership registration process below.

The Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, signed into law effective February 14, 2018, creates a new standard of care that affects all youth-serving organizations around the country, not just Babe Ruth League, Inc. or just the sports of youth baseball and softball.  This law mandates that all amateur sports organizations, which participate in an interstate or international amateur athletic competition and whose membership includes any adult who is in regular contact with an amateur athlete who is a minor, must report suspected child abuse, including sexual abuse, within 24 hours to law enforcement.

All adult Babe Ruth League volunteers, including Cal Ripken Baseball league volunteers,  MUST comply with Babe Ruth League mandates – Background Screening - as well as comply with the Safe Sport Act requirements - Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training and the Mandatory reporting of Child Abuse. 

Babe Ruth League, Inc. strongly suggests and advises all managers, coaches, board members, umpires, as well as any other persons/volunteers, who provide regular service to the league, and/or have repetitive access to, or contact with, players or teams, use the services of SportsEngine.  Any Babe Ruth League volunteer can complete Background Screening and Abuse Prevention Training offered by SportsEngine for a nominal fee of $25 per person that is valid for two years.
Note:  JML appears as Milford Junior Major BRL/CRL.  Allow 90 minutes for Abuse Prevention Training.

Any manager, coach, board member, scorekeeper, groundskeeper as well as any other persons/volunteers, who provide regular service to the league are required to be members.  Members in good standing, per the league bylaws, are invited to attend regular league meetings as well as participate in league votes.  JML encourages all player parents, player relatives , league alumni, community members and others that are interested in providing a great baseball experience for our players to become members.

The more members the league has the more we can accomplish together.  Once Babe Ruth Background Screening and Abuse Prevention Training has been completed we invite you to finish the membership process by filling out the JML Membership Registration.  The registration consists of a $25 annual contribution which can be paid via SportsEngine's secure registration portal.   You can find the link to the membership registration below.
